It is arranged on a ridge referred to before as Siddhachal Parvat and now known as “Yellamma Gudi”, named after the sanctuary. The god in the sanctuary is the goddess Yellamma or Ellama or Renuka, respected as a richness goddess.[1][2][3] The sanctuary is related with the old Devadasi practice of committing young ladies to the temple,[4] which the Legislature of Karnataka professes to have eliminated.[5] The slope, a piece of the Sidhachal or Ramagiri slope go which neglects the Malaprabha river,[6] contains archeological confirmations of occupation dating to the mid-eighth to mid-eleventh hundreds of years of the early Rashtrakuta or late Chalukyan period, and incorporates gigantic burial chambers which originate before these periods
