Mesua ferrea, the Ceylon ironwood, Indian rose chestnut, or cobra saffron, is an animal categories in the family Calophyllaceae. This moderate developing tree is named after the largeness and hardness of its wood. It is broadly developed as a decorative because of its smooth shape, grayish-green foliage with a wonderful pink to red flush of hanging youthful leaves, and huge, fragrant white blossoms. It is local to wet, tropical pieces of Sri Lanka, India, southern Nepal, Burma, Thailand, Indochina, the Philippines, Malaysia and Sumatra, where it develops in evergreen timberlands, particularly in stream valleys. In the eastern Himalayas and Western Ghats in India it grows up to elevations of 1,500 m (4,900 ft), while in Sri Lanka up to 1,000 m (3,300 ft).It is public tree of Sri Lanka and state bloom of Tripura and Mizoram.
